You already have a career story on LinkedIn. The useful question is not "which tool will log into my profile?" It is how do I turn that profile into a resume I control, without handing an app OAuth access or letting it write back to LinkedIn.
The honest path is simple: you export a PDF, you upload that file. No scrape. No profile pull. No write-back.
Start on the free resume builder. UK readers: same product if you say CV.
Why PDF export beats a scrape
Scraping and "connect LinkedIn" flows sound convenient. They also mean a third party is reading your profile through LinkedIn's door — or pretending to.
A user-exported PDF keeps the control with you:
- You choose when to export.
- You see exactly what left LinkedIn.
- The resume tool only sees the file you uploaded.
- Nothing writes back to your LinkedIn profile.
Wizume's LinkedIn import is that model: guided Save to PDF, then import. The LinkedIn optimizer is paste-only (you paste text; we do not write to LinkedIn). We do not OAuth-pull your profile. We do not scrape LinkedIn.
How to export your LinkedIn profile as a PDF
LinkedIn's own "Save to PDF" / print-to-PDF flow is enough. Exact menu labels move around, so treat this as the shape of the job, not a screenshot tutorial:
- Open your LinkedIn profile (not someone else's).
- Use LinkedIn's Save to PDF (or print → Save as PDF) so you get a real PDF file on your device.
- Open the PDF once and check contact, experience, and education look right before you import.
You are not pasting a public profile URL into a scraper. You are moving your export into a builder.
Import into a resume builder (what to expect)
On Wizume you can import PDF, DOCX, or TXT as a starting master. After import:
- Edit in the builder so titles, dates, and bullets match how you actually want them on applications.
- Pick a single-column, parser-safe layout from the template set (twelve templates total — not hundreds). Free starts with three.
- Export a master PDF when you are ready. PDF is print-from-preview, not "pixel-perfect" marketing language.
Import does not consume the Free plan's one free application pack (lifetime). That pack is for AI-depth / apply-flow later — tailor, ATS, cover — and it is a Free entitlement, not a buyable Application Pack, PAYG, or credit SKU. See pricing.
After import: master first, then tailor
LinkedIn is a network profile. A resume is a document for this job.
- Clean the imported master so it is accurate and readable.
- When you apply, paste the real job description (or clip this tab's listing with the Chrome extension — it does not autofill employer forms and does not read LinkedIn). We do not publish a named job-board list.
- Tailor a new copy for that posting. The master stays. Details: master resume vs tailored copy.
- Optional: score keyword and formatting fit against that JD — a JD-weighted score, not a named-ATS certification. See what an ATS score is not.
What not to do
- Do not paste your LinkedIn password into a resume tool.
- Do not authorize OAuth "profile import" if you only meant to upload a PDF.
- Do not expect any tool to write an updated About section back to LinkedIn for you — Wizume does not.
- Do not treat an imported LinkedIn dump as application-ready without an edit pass. Profiles and resumes have different jobs.
- Do not invent metrics, named-ATS pass rates, or guaranteed interviews.
Free vs Pro after you import (money lock)
- Free: unlimited master PDF; one free application pack (lifetime) for AI-depth / apply-flow — then Pro. Import itself is free and does not spend that pack.
- Pro Monthly: unlimited tailor + ATS + cover letters for an active search. See pricing. We do not sell packs, credits, annual, or lifetime for new purchases.
Never say "taste."
